Actually the process for the Earth was designed with global warming and global cooling. There are also ice ages, earthquakes, volcanos and meteor strikes in this package. There is also global pandemics, mass extinctions and radiation. Lets not forget erosion.
All these things already happen and will continue to happen regardless of what science and religion have to predict.
Also, When the Earth passes between the sun and the moon and the moon passes between the sun and Earth a shadow is produced. This can be repeated with a light bulb.
