I'm coming to view tuna in general as unsustainable. Dolphin-safe tuna is great for dolphins, but they're the only species it's good for. Dolphin-safe tuna is an ecological nightmare. I'm giving up the little round cans altogether. No more maguro sushi. Whatever you refuse to eat to stop the killing off or our oceans will be killed and eaten by someone else. The only solution I see is some kind of agreement between the nations to ration the catch from the oceans. Enforcing that should be interesting. Whatever you refuse to eat to stop the killing off or our oceans will be killed and eaten by someone else.Quite true. I suspect it's too late anyway and the next generation will grow up without tuna. Hell, there's every likelihood they may grow up without seafood altogether. There is a greater possibility of them growing up without fish purely and simply because we selfish humans do not need the sea to survive (or so we think) and thus the species can be eliminated without any problem at all. Wonder how long it will take to eliminate other species too, including trees and plants!!! |
