            <P>El informe que cada año publica el Fondo de las Naciones Unidas para la Infancia (UNICEF), se tituló en esta edición Supervivencia infantil. En este se pueden apreciar los resultados que exhibe Cuba en su atención a los niños.</p> <P>La tasa de mortalidad de menores de cinco años, indicador fundamental para medir el bienestar de los niños, es en la Isla de siete por cada mil nacidos vivos. La tasa de mortalidad de los menores de un año es de uno por cada mil nacidos vivos.</p> <P>El ciento por ciento de las embarazadas recibe atención prenatal y la totalidad de los partos son atendidos por personal calificado. Todos los niños son inscriptos al momento de su nacimiento.</p> <P>En cuanto a la educación, el 97 por ciento de los niños de la enseñanza primaria alcanzan el quinto grado. La alfabetización femenina es totalmente igual a la masculina, sin excepciones.
