This is here in the UK, right? I expect religious folk will have mixed feelings about it; they may feel somewhat protected, but on the other hand, most religious hatred is stirred up by the religious. So they'll have to watch how vehemently they express their hatred. its not uk legislation - we have a similar provision in the race relations act but the religious side is equally protected by the European religion and belief regulations. Its naive to imply stupidity in the law without looking at the bigger picture. sikhs and jews are religions with racial traits due to shared ethnicity. christians and muslims have a far broader geographic and ethnic base and are not classed as races (obvious really). this is not to say that they arent equally protected by rules other rules of law where required. |
