This is a must-read for anyone concerned with what is going on in Iraq. It's an honest accounting of events in Baghdad, written by a young woman who lives there.

Wow. Any one of those is enough to fill your heart with sadness. All of them together is nothing short of tragic. It is so sad that people on this earth live in such horrible conditions simply because they were born in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I've been following her blog for a while.
A while ago she "disappeared" and wasn't heard from or blogging or anything and an internet online "search" was put out, asking if anyone at all knew of her fate. Luckily, she started blogging again after a fair bit of time and a sigh of relief passed throughout the net.

Scroll down to the very bottom and read her suggestions for the "Iraqi Oscar Awards" Despite the terrible conditions and the whole horrible sorded situation in Iraq, the gal hasn't lost her sense of humour.
An amazing tribute to her spirit, I reckon.

I'm glad you all found this, and I'm glad Riverbend is okay! As we know, now, Hussein was executed. Let's all remember Riverbend in our prayers/duaa. They are all going to need it.

Yes, she certainly is "loved" by a lot of people who read her blog, myself included. Riverbend puts a human face on the otherwise anonymous sounding term "Iraqi". Her input on the whole situation over there in Iraq gives me more insight than any hyped up television station or media outlet ever could. Her only agenda is for the Iraqi people, not for any corporate interests nor left or right agendas. Just a down to earth human account of what it's like to live in a warzone. And her sense of humour gives her blog that little bit af sass, that I enjoy so much
