The scrap metal dealers do not ask too many questions and pay in cash. </P><P>A good supply of old and even new cables can be found in elevator shafts. This particular shaft was located in an old, empty, grainery near Zatec, about 40 miles north-west from Prague. </P><P>The cable was, however, tightly fastened and the other end of it was disappearing somewhere in the shadows near the top of the shaft. After a substantial effort with the hacksaw the man finally cut the one end loose.
