Platelets and clotting factors for hemophiliacs, cancer patients, and cases of severe liver disease... Plasma for burn victims... "Glue" for surgical procedures... Neutrophils for cancer patients whose immune system has been wiped out... And we're working on other uses for blood. So, even if they're old and without the ability to carry oxygen, we can still do some pretty neat things with blood. |
