I find this interesting topic...but I don't know if we can do anything about it, either scientifically or politically.

Just look at the vile state of discussions about trying to provide national health care in the USA, which a lot of people would almost assume is a "nice," thing to do.

So it might be "nice," to fiddle and fine tune and adjust the world's climate but this would involve not just the politics of one country, but hundreds.

Scientifically, I think we're in way over our heads. If one do one thing it will influence something else. We don't know what the "rules," are, really and don't know the consequences of adjustments.

Dam building is a good idea. People want dams to control ...

Dam building is a good idea. People want dams to control flooding. Business wants dams to generate elelectricity. But now we also know that dams kill the fish....screw up the river....degrade the soil...etc.

Although, certainly, it would seem common sense to stop pumping poisons into our air and rivers.

Although, too, there seems to be a "sky is falling," trait in our news hype and storytelling. Maybe it makes it more interesting. But everyday we hear about one disaster after another that will befall us.

The ozone will be stripped away. An asteroid from outer space will crash into planet Earth and destroy us all. Aliens from outer space will come down and eat us.

Or earth monsters will eat us. Or earthquakes destroy us, etc.

This is not to say that such bad Cassandra-like predictions won't come true (quite the opposite; certainly in her case, too) -- but the fact is we can't do much about them till them are "in our face." -- till our lives are actually effected.

So...when we start to run out of water in places, people will be moved to real action (or, just move out).

Until then we will probably not be "moved," enough to do anything....plus not everyone agrees...and then, business interest will fight to it's last breath not to lose a dime, a vile protests from all sorts of special interests will be seen.
