If you ever needed another reason to be suspicious of Islam, it’s the attitude towards pets. Now, Islam thinks loyal and trustworthy dogs should be avoided. Why, because they’re filthy. Yes, Muhammad in his great wisdom decided to spare Muslims of contact with dog saliva because it’s so dirty. And you know how when we think of Muslims in the Middle East, the first thing that comes to mind is cleanliness.

Muhammad is a cat person! I was raised never to trust a man who is a cat person. Frankly, I don’t believe in cats since they’re not mentioned in Bible.

I'm assuming your tongue is firmly in your cheek clip-on-tie because cats exist, whether you believe in them or not. I'm not defending Islam because I can't stand religion in any form, but it has to be said that it's not the only anti-animal religion. Christians believe that animals lack a soul, and in the middle ages the church burned cats alive in wicker baskets as witches familiars. Roman Catholicism is the largest religion in Spain and Spanish authorities still allow the barbaric FireBull festival to run each year. As for a soul I think it's more likely that it's us humans who don't have one. Who cares anyway. It's what we do while we're here on this earth that matter, and that includes how we treat our own as well as other species.
