Pope, trying to embrace science or suffer the consequences. People aren't as gullible as they used to be. Perhaps "fact" is winning over faith.

I've always hated the implication that "evolution vs creationism" is a children's argument of "yes it does" "no it doesn't". It's not that this is a matter of two groups arguing about an opinion or belief. Evolution is something that is not only true, but is used in day to day science to providing technology and application that would not be possible if it were not true. That creationists deny its truth doesn't even matter - its that they want to suppress that knowledge and replace it with something of their own that really has no benefit outside of its belief system.

It is a fight of ignorance over knowledge.

I definitely agree, but I've been trying to be more diplomatic about it; more politically nice.

Sometimes it doesn't work.

I've seen it mentioned in a number of places that there are some who might admit the possibility that evolution is the divine plan. I have never, however, seen the converse supposition: that accepting evolution does not imply a de facto rejection of a deity. By accepting evolution, one is not precluding the existence of a deity, just the interpretation of creation as set forth in Genesis.

Ahhh, you hit the nail on the head. Evolution denies the story of genesis. And if that's an allegory or parable or metaphor (or whatever not literal), then where do the facts begin and the stories end? Is Adam and Eve just a parable? Then so was the snake. And so was the first sin; and the devil, and the house of cards falls all the way down. Like those turtles.
