I think such a thing has its merits, as not everyone who is baptised wishes to remain so. Many had that choice taken for them before they were old enough to be able to make an informed decision (Or even walk in most cases.).

I can also see it being of use to those who wish to change their religion, although quite why anyone would want to swap one invalid belief system for another is quite beyond me.
