righthand says:
The level of European concern about the US has remained broadly consistent over the past year. In 11 previous polls dating back to July 2006 the proportion of respondents considering the US a threat to stability has ranged between 28 per cent and 38 per cent.

The latest poll comes in the wake of the “surge” that has increased US forces in Iraq to about 160,000 troops, but which has not been accompanied by political breakthroughs or a dramatic reduction of violence.

I can't fault this. As a US resident, I feel threatened by my government. The Bush/Cheney administration has severely damaged our country.
All I can do is apooigise for their agendas and tell anyone from another country reading this, we are not all like that. We must impeach immediately.

Europe is nervous now because Putin is going to target Europe with Soviet ICBM's. No wonder they are afraid.

Not that true. I'm european. And even if i was scared by Putin's ICBM, you have to recall that Putin felt under pressure by Bush's anti-missle system at the Russia doors. Bush says "against Iran" but, try you to have Russia missles on lake michigan.

Bush put peace unstable cause he is a poor risiko player, and he let talk the guns before the mouth.

Enough?

Europeans also know to make the difference between the American ppl and their president. And besides, even if the U.S. govt. is one of the most hhighlighted at the moment in the media, there are lot more countries whose leaders do things just as horrible, but in a more discreet way... Even in european countries...

I'm sorry, you have just to report facts or weight your words.

Of course europeans can tell difference between leader and people. The difference could be less evident when the people directly vote their leader.

Yes...

..because if we didn't there would be no point in us interacting with you. Bush has forced us to know the US up close and personal, rather than the superficial knowledge/propaganda we knew before. Changing Bush or electing a donkey will not alone change the US for the better. The more I learnt then the more that I despaired for the future of world peace.

And yes...

Let's define horrible. It's horrible start a war for personal interests mystifing information on iraqi weapons?

I'm not against war on terror, infact EU is in Afganistan today.

Now find a EU leader did the same.

We are the biggest threat to world peace.

USA propaganda and our view of ourselves as being the world cops or the great spreaders of Freedom and Democracy, blag, blag, blag is just fabricated PR.

We're invaders. We want the oil. And it's very difficult to make our politicians do what the majority of the people want --- although this is true in Great Britain, Australia, etc. Most of their citizens don't want war either.

Bummer.

Apparently, no nation wants a war in its own backyard....
In it's usual "democratic" manner, the USA voted Bush for his second term... I wonder if the reasoning there had anything to do with : " Let's keep the war out of our own backyard and in the meantime lure a few hundred or so of the excess illegal immigrants lurking about in our garden, to enroll as cannon fodder, promising them visas or even citizenships..... if they return alive that is..."

My dear europeans, you must remember that, of those who still thought there was some point in voting - given the choices presented us - and who were able to cut thru the bullshit to cast a meaningful, informed vote, well, the voting process itself had been subverted, just in case subversion of media and sheer stupidity and panic were insufficient. As, indeed, they would have been, according to exit polls in '04.
