If they can make the material absorb 100% of the light that hits it, they can test quantum mathematical theories that are impossible to test otherwise.

I can actually image such a room in my mind.
A substance that reflects absolutely no light at all would be invisible.
Everything we see is reflected light.
Even looking directly at the sun is light that has been diffused by our atmosphere.
