Given our current fetishism of war, weaponary (Gears of War...) and budgetary expenditure, a visitor to our planet may be unable to discern a failure of militarism.

Pretty much all western governments found accomodation with "Nazism...." during the last century rendering the "our" in that sentence at best ambivalent - they may typically have been the enemies of people but certaintly not corporations, governing elites or entrenched economic interests.

Understanding and addressing the socio-economic drivers behind radicalisation (yes, I know - easy for me to say) is surely a better long-term solution than relying on our "overwhelming military strength".

They depend on public support, because they have no international backing, and brought about a peace that the interim government has destroyed- again- in a matter of days.
