ratilfar says: Yet English language news sites do not show this. Why? CNN is still playing up the "confrontation" between Chavez and Uribe. Again, why? Are you also Rafael? Saturday, March 08, 2008 Uribe forced to apologize to his Latin American Counterparts Yet American news sites do not show this (although its all over CNN in Spanish). Why? CNN is still playing up the "confrontation" between Chavez and Uribe. Again, why? on Ruins of Empire Si... How did righthand discover that? He is really a search machine of great stretch. Well I'm glad to see the story under any name. He simply followed my links on my profile or found the same title under google. Not that hard really, its no big secret. OK I wasn't trying to imply anything sinister I hope you understand. Nothing sinister about it. I keep my info here minimal, to dissuade the trolls, but my identity is no secret. No, it was a much longer, more circular route. I've 10 Percent on Google Reader. There there was Uribe’s Humiliation Being Downplayed March 8, 2008 Rafael @ Ruins of Empire reports that while Spanish CNN are reporting the humiliating spectacle of Uribe having to trot around the room apologising, English speaking versions play up the Chavez confrontation angle and discreetly save the Empire’s lickspittle his honour.... Ah, my buddy RickB form Wales! Yes his stuff is good too, in fact he sometimes guest post among the rubble (my blog). As for the item, I had to fix the name on the blog post, so they would match. I don't post as often as I would like, I tend to concentrate on my podcast (under the same name, the Ruins of Empire podcast, can be heard from my site) and my novel these days, so Clipmarks is a great time saver. @righthand Great description of a cycle of exploration. Do you have something of a photographic memory? I often go cycling about on the Internet but not knowing that I may suddenly want to find again some site, I don't bookmark it, and then I have to resort to trying to remember the original trail without success. I just tried Webmynd as a FireFox add on but it seemed to be causing mischief. Also I had seen Google reader as more limited. I will have to see what you are talking about. It is great that the situation has seemed to end without warfare breaking out. Looking at the photos I almost felt claustrophobia. All those people all clustered up and all men as far as I could tell. (I note that the sole female I saw was photographed in an unflattering posture especially next to the two male samples.) My thought was all that testosterone! Of course I don't like men as a species but on the other hand thanks to women's liberation going beyond reasonable boundaries in many cases, I did discover I am actually a male in some cases where I see this overstepping. As an extreme example, the variety of thought contemplating making the male completely unnecessary for species repro... Also I had seen Google reader as more limited. I will have to see what you are talking about. You will be familiar with the usual RSS connections to Google Reader, so I'll ignore those. There are two other uses of RSS and Reader that work great for me. Take a topic that you're interested in say XXX. You could have Google send you daily/weekly alerts. You could have in on your Google News in its own section but it doesn't differentiate between new or old, just lists the number of 'clips' you set, wasting your time checking. In Google Reader there's no limit on those displayed but more importantly the newest are listed as unread in bold. You can star or not each as you choo... Second is Google Readers use with ClipMarks! If there is a topic you are interested in say SEX, you use CMs the search engine. Then use RSS at the bottom of ClipMark's page to link to Google Reader. Now every time afterwards that a new SEX clip is automatically notified in Reader! That of course applies to any topic and not just SEX. When you first set a new ClipMarks topic to Reader it offers you a new option. I suggest that you put all your ClipMarks items together. If you put them under CM or one number then they'll all be together for you to check efficiently. Ask me if I haven't made this clear because it's all worth while. Similarly to a topic above you can do the same for indi... Wow. You are a fountain of information. Thanks. What you also are it seems, is organized, which I would assume comes not from the tools you use, but the reason you select the tools that you do. And what am I? One of the most disorganized people on the planet. Which in defense I will say, that there is only so much time. One can't do everything no matter how organized. Is that defense or rationalization? Ah well... I shall do my best to follow your directions far enough to be able to ask intelligent questions. Thanks. My ability for organization is in compensation for another defect. I was a decade or so past secondary school before I knew of dyslexia. I was useless at languages and spent excessive time in exams trying to spell the simplest of words. I was expect to fail Irish in the Inter Cert, which was an automatic over all failure. I passed with 4 honours, somehow. The decision to put me in the B class was made and as is the way was difficult to change. Instead of doing French, I was now doing Bookkeeping with all the other who had done it for the Inter. By Christmas I was best in class, which was an unique experience for me. This status allowed me the chance to stand up in class and read out 6 of 9 ... That really does sound interesting. Almost like material for a book or a movie. Sadly enough for me anyway, as an American, I don't really have (really none That is aside from the dyslexia which I don't have myself. This status allowed me the chance to stand up in class and read out 6 of 9 reason why our teacher, a Jesuit, wasn't fit to teach us.And this is priceless. It certainly doesn't fit with the knuckle rapping image of Nuns that was about the sole concept of Democracy in a Catholic school that I as an outsider ever heard! I was 6/7 months ahead of the class teaching myself. He was never going to compete the course. We had many run ins. Class was a joke but in that class I was the star and took latitudes. I had to apologise with no other consequences. A week before the Leaving we decided to tape record his class. Sixth year used the various classrooms instead of the study hall. In mine we asked about 20 in one by one and accused them of whatever to get them using 'bad language' and record them. Most did. The next day we attempted the class recording and were caught at the end of class. The only thing on the tape was the previous night's performance. The guy in charge didn't press the record button. They woul... I bet people encourage you to write books. Or alternatively, perhaps you could recommend a book(s) that cover that life. It just seems like it would be great to have a lengthy writing which would really immerse the reader in that world. Or alternatively I could do a little work myself ummm. Anyway it is series of scenes that would make great movie material. One program I have watched quite a bit lately is "Law and Order". At the beginning they always state that the following program is fictional and no person etc and then they many times proceed to lift real life dramas out of the news and set the story around them. I used to think that would be boring, but the way they do it, it comes out standing on it's own. I bet people encourage you to write books. In addition to my dyslexia I can only type one fingered, which is fast enough for my brain. Sometime I'll tell you a much better story of the illegal letter writing and the train carriage - 33% males, horny, and 66% female - with no lights in the one carriage, which commence a very lengthy tale. At the moment I'm helping my daughter whose doing her Leaving with her history project. We choose the McCann side of our family, my mother's, during the War of Independence. Should be done soon. I'm one and a half fingered. |
