Interesting article on serotonin and depression with a critique of the Big Pharma industry

Hugely important clip. The crude conception of depression as a simple medical condition was bad enough. Then we were told that it was caused by an imbalance in neurochemicals, end of story. 'Depression' is devestating to an individual, and if you listen to the most articulate accounts of the many who have suffered you will begin to grasp its unique hold on each individual.
Worse, many who suffer from (albeit genuine) unhappiness have been given powerful brain chemicals after a five minute consultation with a doctor. I know that in many cases these drugs have correlated with feeling better but the correlation does not provide a cause-effect basis for ignoring the many human, social, economic and spiritual factors involved in depression.
