Yea..."We have caused a monstrous mess."

We need to elect better leaders
& kick out the bad.

As much as we can...so although I understand it, after all the whining and pulling out of hair and disgust and anger is over then: What's to be done?

We need to elect better leaders
& kick out the bad.

"We need to elect better leaders"
The problem is a lack of "better" candidates. In the current race, in both parties, there is no one, except Ron Paul, who isn't just more of the same. Ron Paul, however, hasn't a chance in hell of even getting nominated.

We need to have better candidates.

I said this when Shrub ran the first time. I said this when Shrub ran the second time.

We need to NOT be afraid of change. We need to not be afraid of each other.

Bush was elected because the democrats were afraid to be who they were. Everyone brought out the L word like it was a dirty word. And everyone ran.

Next election, everyone brought out the other L word and everyone was divided.

Liberal then Lesbian (gay marriage) be afraid of either one and fearmongers win, humanity loses.

Ron Paul is a racist. Dig deeper into Ron Paul's statements and voting history. I almost fell into the Ron Paul trap.

You've got me curious. Can you provide some links to his statements that make him out to be a racist?

I have been reading several political blogs, partisan, non-partisan, indifferent and this got me thinking... then googled "ron paul racist" , here are just some of the links....
If I remember the original article I will add to this thread.

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- A series of newsletters in the name of GOP
presidential hopeful Ron Paul contain several racist remarks --
including one that says order was restored to Los Angeles after the
1992 riots when blacks went "to pick up their welfare checks."

Hm, nothing definite in these, like an actual quote, only material from a newsletter with his name on the banner head. No one seems to know who wrote the material only that it was in the newsletter. I'll keep an open mind on this issue, but so far no proof Ron Paul is a racist.

I agree with Harold Bloom...but I don't think it is for the reasons you guys are agreeing with him. From what I can tell, Bloom is talking about the incapacity of Americans to think, and how we are slaves to the sound-bite media culture.

Here is what I can say in regard to the accusations of racism and Ron Paul. I also have other clips on the matter, the oversight to what was in the newsletters was his biggest mistake. Unfortunately, people are falling for this slamming of him and we are on a collision course, as the clip implies, while in the meantime buying into the rhetoric of these other candidates, some of whom probably actually are racists.

I think people have become so excited they might see the end of the world, they've pushed the fast forward button. Now we're saturated by feedback. It's amazing what a note can do to a crystal glass. You just have to hit the right frequency. Freedom is a buzz word. We are owned by what we keep.
Bush invaded Iraq, in the same way Hitler invaded the Soviet Union. For Supply.
They were both beaten by Elements beyond their control.

Technology is non-sustainable. Just a matter of time and it will break down. It is a short lived day dream of a society that has institutionalized harm. The US cannot and will not heal, too far gone. But people can if the stop participating in the harm.

What country does better in a world where the birthrates for Islamic Terrorists is 8 babies per 2 adults? We are not dooming ourselves - some Arab countries have decided to kill us for our land and resources. I was on the "Oh My God we did it to ourselves" Blame America First bandwagon for all of 5 minutes. Try speaking freely in Eurabia, still called Europe- good luck. I left NYC because so many high monied families of Europe are coming over here with bags of cash because they know Europe is ALREADY fallen - Europe can talk, but they will be gone in 20 years - again, Western caucasians are not having children, and Arab fanatics do little else. If it were *our* fault, don't ya think we'd be better off?

I remember back after hurricane katrina I was listening to a radio show by inner light radio
and their was an african american women tellin her story to the interviewer. She was becoming dissilusioned with her community leaders as it seemed nothing was being done with the major problems
she eventually came to the conclusion that she would be the change she wanted to see to be a leader in the way she lived her life: ate , shopped ,acted, talked etc.
that is the only way to be the change we want to see
also the was a story about krishnamurti I read before

What do we mean by the "Fall of America"? Does it mean that we realize that we can't invade countries willy-nilly? Or that we will have a serious recession when we realize that we can't consume more than we make indefinitely? These are not the same as the "End of America" - the United States can get over these things, and maybe even learn from them.

Remember? I'll tell what I'm old enough to remember. I remember when this is what used to be said, "The USA will never lose a war." Now we have to add, "on its own shore." Never say never, there's always a first.

I recall a quote from Oliver Stone's movie 'Nixon' :

Nixon shuffles back alone, coming to a stop in front of a larger-than-life, full-length oil portrait of JOHN F. KENNEDY. Nixon studies the portrait, pads closer. Looks up.

To clarrify one thing: My idea (learned and practiced by millions of others) of Electing Better Leaders - and kicking out the bad -- does not mean there are perfect leaders around, does not mean the political system is perfect, etc.

Electing better leaders if you hope for a better world (and kicking out the bad) is the only obvious solution to improving social and/or political situations. Period.

As far as 'The Fall of America,' well -- yes -- books can and are written about it, comparisons to Rome, etc. can be made.

Offhand I think of Rome's growing dependance upon a mercenary army, foreign 'allies,' becoming dominant in it's politics (who was the Emperor of Rome when it fell, for example...

You all ought to be praising the arrival of "We Are The World" , "Imagine" no borders, no countries, etc.
What are you bemoaning? Isn't that what you wanted?

Does not birth imply death?

so that's why it's nice to remember we need to get off our asses and vote or work for a better world.
That's the ticket.
I remember the total absorbing of perverse pleasure I took when I was around 20 and would break up with my "only love", play love songs on my guitar drunk on my ass, holding back the luxurious tears, loving every minute of the glorious pain.
Then you grow up some. You learn that revelling in it is detrimental to growing. You have to know when to start looking for solutions.
Shed your skin.

"We need to elect better leaders"???
Does the moral state of a nation actually depend on the election of "leaders"? Is it that simple that the electing people can get rid of its own responsibility concerning the national morality? Is any U.S. citizen really so authority-worshipping? Does any U.S. citizen feel to be in thrall to the "leaders"?
Then, my friends, learn from the German history! The belief in the absolute fuehrer principle made almost the whole people jointly liable for the crimes of the damned fuehrer and the damned subfuehrers. Sometimes a nation deserves the shame which the criminal leaders bring on it.

"Bush is ultimately responsible for this war," Bloom says.

I may have learned very few things in my life, but one I know for sure is about leadership. The one thing a leader can do that trumps anything else is influence the morale and the morals of those they lead. If a leader cannot create an environment for positive morale, nothing else matters. They have failed as a leader. (Consider Solomon.) Bush, Jr. has driven so many wedges, insulted so many people, condoned so much ineptitude that morale is lower than I could ever have imagined. The responsibility for that lays at his feet and his feet alone.

North American currency union:
The three principal countries of North America, namely Canada, the United States and Mexico, are currently enacting a plan to share a common currency.[1] Implementation would probably involve the three countries giving up current currency units (Canadian dollar, US dollar and Mexican peso) and adopting a new one, created specifically for this purpose. The hypothetical currency for the union is sometimes referred to as the amero.[2][1] (wikki)
The Authenticity of the wikki material is disputed, but the political benefits are clear.
Mexico and Canada will help pay China.
Mexicans will be invited to work for nothing
