BitDrifter says: Projected by CNN. I am so damn happy it isn't Huckabee. My main problem with McCain is his age and health. My problem with McCain is his spastic record as a conservative. The press loves his maverick attitude because that means he is doing something liberal. I would prefer someone who I know where they stand on the issues though. On the other hand, age is actually a bonus for me. If he were to pick a more conservative VP (like Thompson or Hunter), then the fact that he may only stick around for one term is a bonus. But if the republicans are going to pick one of the more liberal and/or corrupt candidates, then having a democrat wins just means real conservatives have a shot at nominating a real conservative in four years instead of eight. I was hoping for a Romney win, McCain I doubt stands much of a chance against whoever the Democrats have as their nominee. I have to confess, Romney is my pick of the litter; then Guilianni. I prefer Thompson, then Hunter, then Romney. McCain is not someone I would like to see as president. But I do think he would have a good chance of winning if nominated. The reason he has done so well so far is because of independent voters. |
