tommy2balmy says: “We were playing with them, as were the Georgian soldiers,” said Tatrishvili. “It was only when one of the bombs exploded after a soldier threw it that we understood that they were dangerous.” Hmm, cluster bombs you say? The same ones that the nation of Israel was criticized for using? But it's ok for the Russians to use them, right? No it is not. Nobody is saying that, and they are downright inhumane. Why is it that tribalist assume that if you criticize one side you have to support the other? I agree totally ratilfar. I certainly oppose the use of cluster bombs under all circumstances by anyone, anywhere. No it is not. Nobody is saying that, and they are downright inhumane. Why is it that tribalist assume that if you criticize one side you have to support the other? So where is all the international comdemnation? Outrage? The U.N.response? Like I said, it's apparently o.k. for Russia, but not the U.S. or other countries. Let's see someone protest that and see how far it gets you. Well I don't condone it, as for the UN, well Israel has a very sour relationship with the UN, all those resolutions the keep ignoring and the graphic video of dumping cluster bombs in civilian areas did not help. Put some video up of these bombs affecting the Georgians and then see what happens. I would think that the media savvy Georgian goverment will have those out soon. So where is all the international comdemnation? Outrage?I've noticed that the national as well as the international community doesn't always condemn everything that I believe it should. Having said that, here's some of it- clipped from: www.npaid.org Cluster Munition Coalition condemns Russian use of cluster bombs in Georgia clipped from: www.newswire.ca Mines Action Canada condemns russian use of cluster bombs in Georgia clipped from: in.reuters.com Russia "used cluster bombs" in Georgia - rights group clipped from: www.alertnet.org Handicap International condemns reported use of cluster munitions in Georgia conflict “We were playing with them, as were the Georgian soldiers,” said Tatrishvili. “It was only when one of the bombs exploded after a soldier threw it that we understood that they were dangerous.” After years of hearing how dangerous and inhuman these types of bombs are, some nations still keep these in their arsensal. The world is doomed to repeat its mistakes because too many people refuse to learn from history or heed the advice of their more experienced elders. |
