No reason I can’t go golfing, shoot some hoops, and hit the town with Michelle.

President Bush used to break into tears when addressing soldiers and was reviled as a stone-hearted warmonger; Donald Rumsfeld was demonized for using a machine to sign notification letters to fallen soldiers’s next-of-kin. President Obama gives out rounds of virtual fist-bumps to his buds before even mentioning a slaughter of American soldiers, perpetrated by Americans, in mid-America.

We desperately need an adult in the White House. Sadly, today’s press conference proves we do not have one.

(Incidentally, the shooter " who killed 12 people with two handguns " is reportedly an adherent of the Religion of Peace who was incensed about being sent to war.)

It was painful to watch.......he really did that "shout-out" , along with smiles---before saying once word about Fort Hood.

What kind of human does that?

I was trying to figure out what he was talking about. It was totally incoherent and delusional. (I usually put the
TV on mute, but today I just listened to the audio. I can't
stand his ugly face anymore!.....and I didn't see his smiley face.)

On a form filled out by those seeking spouses through a program at the mosque, Hasan listed his birthplace as Arlington, Va., but his nationality as Palestinian, Khan said.

"I don't know why he listed Palestinian," Khan said, "He was not born in Palestine."

...This from Dan Collins: Piece of Work in Progress blog

UPDATE IV: OK, I had to go out for a while, and there’s been a lot of refinement in this story. To begin with, Lt. General Cone just finished his press conference at Fort Hood, and among the things he indicated was that Major Hasan is still alive, and in stable condition. Also, the men detained earlier on he possibility of being accomplices have been released; Major Hasan was a lone gunman. Contrary to earlier reports, he was born Muslim, his parents being of Jordanian extraction. He had been transferred to Fort Hood from Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington DC, following a poor performance review from that same facilit...

. . Federal authorities have indicated that he’s been under scrutiny for the approximately 6 months owing to some online postings that discussed suicide bombings and other threats. They add that they’re still trying to positively connect the authorship of those posts to Hasan.

There was a grenade thrown amongs a group of American soldiers. One of the soldiers, feeling that it was to late for everyone to flee jumped on the grave with the intention of saving his comrades. Indeed he saved them. He inentionally took his life (suicide) for a noble cause i.e. saving the lives of his soldier. To say that this so...

I bet if those few minutes upset you that you must be infuriated over the months Obama has spent dithering instead of deciding to support his appointed General and our troops.

You spend too much time listening to Cheney my friend. "Dithering"- do you have an original thought or do you spend your days saying "I don't recall" SEVENTY-TWO times instead of accepting responsibility for your actions?

Nice deflection, but let's remember, it was Obama's hand picked general who said time was of the essence and this was months ago. Funny how libs were upset with Bush over a few minutes, but give Obama a pass when he can't make up his mind over following his own general's recommendations after months. How many rounds of golf does it take to decide if we should stay in it to win or get out? Was porkulus just that much more important than the lives of our troops in Afghanistan?

Fort Hood has been a place where paid killers have been trained for decades.

From here they have gone to invade numerous countries and kill countless civilians. In Iraq alone more than 100 000 civilians have died so far - in comparison Al Qaeda pales to an insignificant annoyance.

Would anyone here have shed a single tear if Fort Hood happened to be in Iraq and those killed were Iraqis?

How long must the world suffer under American selective morality? Your killers are heroes - the rest are all terrorists?

It was more than a few minutes, and it was at a time when the attacks had just started, not after they had been contained. I would think that it would signal immediate action as opposed to reading a book. As for Obama, I am not excusing him. I found it odd that he gave that "shout out" just prior to addressing the situation that had recently occurred. To your inquiry of sending more troops, the generals of a war are always going to request more troops, more equipment, etc., that covers their ass if thin...

It was more than a few minutes
It was about ten minutes from the time Bush was told of the second crash and the time he left the classroom. What do you suggest the president could have done in ten minutes?

the generals of a war are always going to request more troops, more equipment, etc.,
Actually, they don't. Especially those high up. They know how to use their resources, and they know that too many can be just as bad as too few. Obama picked the general and he picked the tactic, but now he can't decide if he wants to go forward with his own plan or let his political advisers have their hand at trying to run the military. This isn't rocket science. Obama de...

First off, thank God you are not a first responder! Second, stop being such a Bush apologist! Imagine if that were Obama sitting and reading a book after just having been told the nation were under attack? Would you shrug it off as "what could he have done in ten minutes"??! I personally have been involved to direct responses to emergency situation (not going into detail) and never would I consider to sit and read, have a coffee, or anything for any amount of time before leaping into action to either l...

First off, thank God you are not a first responder!
So you expected Bush to jump aboard his plane, head straight to NYC, and help with search and rescue? That simply isn't his job. There is absolutely nothing he could have done in those ten minutes other than upset those children and wait with his staff as the information started to trickle in. Stop being such a Bush hater.
