sillysam says: These girls need more parental involvement, not less. These young girls know how to have babies, so further sex ed isn’t needed. They want to have babies, so contraception is beside the point. The problem is that they think that they are ready to have babies, and they aren’t. Do you have kids? Who is EVER READY? I agree with you- but I just wanted to know what you mean by ready. I see your point. I had a classmate who at the age of 14 desparately wanted to be pregnant and became a mother. I don't know what happened to her. I became pregnant at 19. I was married and that was the whole reason I got married- to have a child. Abstinence is the answer for many more reasons than that, to be sure! I have 3...17,2 and a newborn. I was ready for the last 2. The first one I am still not ready for. lol The *kids* are naive and don't understand what love is. But hey, when in the US they are applauded by their peers (I don't believe that it's genuine for an instant!), subsidized by local and federal government (which is you & me) and supported by parents so the trend goes on. However, abstinence prevents future heartbreak, financial responsible & burdens, disease, and almost guaranteed life-long poverty. Who...in their right mind...would encourage or support any other alternative. (And don't give me that junk about "well, they're going to have sex anyway!") Exactly. Thanks for summing that up for me. |
