I think the whole world is just angry and looking for people to blame. People feel powerless or helpless and they look for ways to assert themselves, however misguided. Sometimes it is impossible to be rational or compassionate.

I'm not sure I understand your question. I think people can find comfort in guns or religion or in singling out people they do not identify with.

This wasn't a question, bignosemousie, just some remarks made by our semi-President-to-be regarding people that don't vote for him. Reimers of course can correct me if I got his comment wrong.

I'd say it's more like the mobs didn't like certain people for being different from them or they had possessions and/or property they wanted for themselves. Whatever reason, it's an aberration and it's unspeakable and it's ignorant and evil.

I have a feeling this has something to do with the impending 2012 (21 December or Winter Solstice date) Year of "distinction".
