Oh, I understand it just fine. Lip service is cheap and Catholic leaders dish out plenty of that, but when it comes to real positions of authority, well they reserve that for men. That is the "crux" of the matter.

They are. Christ's threefold mission is that of king, priest and prophet. A minister of Christ's "job description" is to act in persona Christi and since Christ is a male, so should His priests. Because of the complementary nature of male and female, even though equal yet different, one can not take the place of another.
