Sorry but printed newspapers are (and have been) a huge waste of resources. Given some of the 'stories' and reports they are also a waste of time. Roll over and die newspapers, the digital age has you beat. Aww, I still like getting a newspaper in the morning. I recycle it though. I hate spending all of my time in front of the computer. (Here's what I accidentally posted in Debbyski's clip..:~) I use to enjoy reading our daily paper but it's become so PC that there's nary a page that doesn't jolt me. I liked looking at the letters-to-the-editor, the obits, a couple of comics, the local news and to keep up with what is happening around the State. Not anymore...too much propaganda. We use to have a wonderful SpringTime parade. Looked forward to it with it's floats, military bands, historical characters from the settlement days (Andrew Jackson) and the ol' South. They took out all the good parts that I liked! Newspapers have gone the way of B&W TVs, the manual typewriters, 10 cent Cokes, decent television programing and 8 track tapes. The internet has doomed newspapers, however some like the New York Times hasten their own demise by morphing into a politically driven extension of the Democratic Party in lieu of being an honest source for the news. The Democrats will likely come up with a plan to subsidize the NYT. I say that in jest, but... Well, if they would just report the news instead of creating it with endless polls, and feel-good pieces, and using PC terms, then they would do much better. I think there is still a place for newspapers. At least there is for bird owners and eBay sellers. Liners for bird cages seem appropriate for the NYTs, since that's all they peddle anyway. |
