You probably know that "The Kinsey Reports are two books on human sexual behavior, Sexual Behavior in the Human Male (1948) and Sexual Behavior in the Human Female (1953), by Dr. Alfred Kinsey, Wardell Pomeroy and others."

"The research astounded the general public and was immediately controversial and sensational. The findings caused shock and outrage, both because they challenged conventional beliefs about sexuality and because they discussed subjects that had previously been taboo."

Great clip Alanocu! Not only did Kinsey shock America, but I'd say Shere Hite did so too:

Kinsey's study on male sexuality was widely accepted. His study of female sexuality was rejected as an "insult to the dignity of American womanhood." The women in his study were deemed abnormal.. Masters and Johnson completed similar studies with a far great sampling of men and women and came to conclusions similar to Kinsey.

Talk about a double standard. But how could the men be so "normal" while the women "abnormal"? I mean with whom where these "normal" men doing the things that they where doing?

You bring up a great point Rat and one I try to expand upon a lot. Why can't women embrace their sexuality without being viewed upon as whores? Why are we held to a different standard and more importantly, doesn't this hurt men? Why can't we all be more expressive in the way we view each other without certain expectations of how each sex should behave?

Just spend a few hours roaming around the internet and you'll come to the realization that not only are there almost no taboos, but the term kinky is meaningless.

Man, the woman in "Married 30 Years" looks like my grandmother! I actually shivered...that woman was serious mean. Great job putting this together!

Thanks for the link Mohir, I've added that to my Netflix queue - haven't seen it yet.

debbyski, how bad is this: I hadn't even heard of The Hite Report until now. I'm sure a book on female sexuality wasn't in our house in 1976. My parents took us to the church that doesn't allow hand-holding; sex only for procreation.

Socatoad, did you notice "The Joy of Sex," Come again?" is set to reissue?

Thanks for the good comments. Sorry it took so many days for me to comment. I had some work deadlines that took longer than expected.

Shere Hite caused quite a stir back in 1976 Alanocu! Things like:
Women are three times more likely to have an orgasm with another woman than with a man.
My parents took us to the church that doesn't allow hand-holding; sex only for procreation.
Well baby boy; I'm glad they made the time to procreate you!

Traditionally, the notion of feminine moral superiority has been a form of sexism as pernicious as the notion of masculine intellectual superiority. In Kinsey's day, women were deemed men's moral betters and thus considered "above such things" as were viewed normal to the male "animal." When Kinsey's studies showed that women were "no better than men," many men and women alike were offended and started throwing dispersions Kinsey's way.

Even today, most parents confer their daughters a more protected and untouchable status than they do their sons. Girls bodies are literally likened to sacred temples into which one cannot enter lest they be desecrated. No such sanctity is attributed to boy...
