easyon says: Worryingly true. Where does the concept of "Good and "Evil" come from apart from religion? Worryingly simplistic Indeed Rygar. Simplistic but there is some truth to it. Crusades and other religion induced wars. If not because of religion, will they kill? But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion Or politics, or greed, or ignorance, or prejudice, or mental illness, or anger, or jealousy etc. Lots of things can cause otherwise good people to do bad things, but it's a good quote anyway. . What an idiot! Where does the concept of "Good and "Evil" come from apart from religion?Every evil that has found its way into scripture is an evil that humans are capable of accepting in the absence of scripture. If this were not true, then these evils would not have found their way into scripture to begin with. Religion = Bondage Where does the concept of "Good and "Evil" come from apart from religion? Are you saying it is impossible for people to be either good or evil if there is no religion, or that they ARE evil if they have no religion? I think that statement is absurd (my opinion). There are people all over the world who are raised outside/in the absence of religion and are not evil, just as there are many people raised within religion who are evil. Religion = Bondage? Does that mean Murder + Rape = Freedom? Because to qualify Evil in the most General sense that will always to me mean Murder, Rape, Abuse. So in context to the original quote which basically says that "people are gonna do what people do...that is until you add the Ideal of religion then you have people who are going to commit atrocities to confirm their ideal" What I am saying is that it is a stupid quote because "Without religion you would have people doing things." Just things, because we would all be atheist, but we wouldn't call it that, It would be a non existent term. murder wouldn't be anything Hence my first Post up top |
