I'll be spending some time at our local shelter this Christmas. It's small, they know me. I wish I could recommend others to do the same but most shelters are run by authoritarian figures with sticks up their butts who have rules and regulations about such things.

I didn't connect my comment to the story very well. Let me go back to that. The reason these people aren't getting any help is because of authoritarian figures with sticks up their butts who have rules and regulations about such things.

I used Google maps and the info provided to local them. A reporter from the Los Angeles Times was there. We brought them some supplies but didn't have the resources to give them what they really need, an address.
I'd like to start a charity fund for them, anyone know how to go about that?

Are there drug or alcohol problems with themselves, boyfriends, or other family members. Any money given under these circumstances will go for the drugs or alcohol even if they are hungry. If what they need is an address, start calling fraternal organizations like the Elks, Moose etc. Ask if they have any resources to put these people up for awhile in a motel. Other chartable organizations probably have alre...

The reporter is taking an active role and has found temporary shelter for them. Thank you for your thoughtful comments. Very helpful. We brought them clothes and a down comforter, not much but better than nothing.
