In the Old Testament, Abraham, Isaac, and David each had a number of wives and Solomon was said to have had 700 wives at the same time, plus 300 concubines. Old testiment polgamy was in fact endorsed by the ever sexually uptight St. Augustine as an alternative to sex with one woman only--as long as it was for the right reason. In Augustines' somewhat twisted thinking, having sex with many women seriatim for the purpose of procreation trumped repeated sex with the same woman for pleasure alone!

I respectfully disagree. Although we don't yet know much about how each of the hundreds of brain-centers work, we do know that their construction is based on information that is contained in tens of thousand of inherited genes.
