So sad, the level of indoctrination and brainwashing both exhibited by the painter and attempted by the all too basic use of "symbolism". Love the part in the interview where this propagandist laments the placement of the "liberal professor" on the top step - daring to be on equal footing with God - as if this isn't wholly a product of his own pathetic distortions.

There is plenty to be sad about in viewing such work, but it is not due to the Christianist dogma on display here, but rather the lack of education and context that swaps resentment for understanding, hatred for equality and racism for acceptance. Love the blonde and blue eyed representation of Jesus - says all you really need ...

How about the immigrant, of another religion, depicted in shock when he learns that the source of the U.S.'s power is Jesus Christ?

What a horrible piece of ar.....err...... propaganda.

No MLK, no Thomas Paine, Mark Twain or other "liberal" prominent political/cultural figures that might contradict this rosy picture of WASP America.

Also the "Tree of Life" is hardly a Judeo-Christian symbol. It gets mentioned once in Genesis and that's it. However it is a prominent pagan symbol, especially in Norse mythology.

Ummm....

The Tree of Life, or Etz haChayim (עץ החיים) is a mystical symbol used in the Kabbalah of esoteric Judaism to describe the path to HaShem and the manner in which He created the world ex nihilo (out of nothing).

Kabbalah not being a part of mainstream Christian thought makes the choice of putting on Christ chest tabard-like (alluding, perhaps, to the Lord of the Rings?) even more puzzling.

Like the title says: "That's ONE Vision of America".

A inaccurate one I may add. But the man is free to paint whatever he wants.

OK, I was wrong about Thomas Paine, but why is he back there? Also I found the Union Soldier crying, even though the North won.

Also when you put your cursor over the Union soldier it says "the only war Americans have fought against other Americans...Hopefully it will never happen again."

Hopefully? Remind me again who is pushing for segregation these days?

Especially when you point to Old Glory and the caption says:

"Some stars shine brighter than others."

Say what now?

Blond haired, blue eyed Jesus ... hmm... I bet the artist is Mormon which would also explain why no MLK, Harriet Tubman, Caesar Chavez, or Susan B. Anthony, as well as why the only black person is on his knees and and the immigrant is both ignorant and astonished.

Checking now ... back in a few ....

He is from Utah, blonde haired, blue eyes Jesus and Deseret Books sells paintings by an artist of the same name, so I'm 99% sure he's Mormon (in common with Glenn Beck). The lower right area of the painting is "Satan's Corner," (see dark figure above "Mr. Hollywood," (might that be Frederick?). Satan looks down on Hollywood and Pregnant Woman with "ridicule and amusement." (see Interview).

What's wrong with pregnant women? There's the aspect of abortion and Eve listened to Satan and pregnancy was part of her punishment. At least in Islam Adam and Eve are blamed equally.

I've spent a lot of time in Mormon country: I know their handiwork when I see it.

You would think that if anyone was for the Separation of Church and State which guaranteed religions freedom it would be them. I guess like other far-right religious groups they merely want the "freedom" to practice their religion and let the rest be damned.
