The first time Jerry Seinfeld walked
on-stage at a comedy club as a professional comic, he looked out at the
audience, froze, and forgot the English language. He stumbled through
"a minute-and a half" of material and was jeered offstage.

In 1944, Emmeline Snively, director of the Blue Book Modeling

Yes, but when they were down shouldn't they have just fought to bring down an unjust system?

It is true, never give up! Bill Clinton's father died in a car crash 3 months before he was born, his mother remarried when he was 4, and as a teenager, he had to assume the role of head of the household as his mother's marriage turned rocky. Bill's stepfather suffered from alcoholism, and occasionally turned abusive toward Bill's mother. Bill, now over six feet tall, ordered his stepfather not to lay a hand on his mother. Bill Clinton even helped his mother arrange a divorce by calling his mother's attorney to report his stepfather's abuse. AND he went on to become President of the United States for two terms!

Most of these men worked 'out of the system', because what their talents produced was done is a way that was contrary to the system. They didn't demand the system be changed. They set examples of how things could be successful without the interference of the system. Many of these men were seen as valuable contributers after their deaths, after the wisdom of retrospect replaced personal prejudice. They acted in a way that caused systems to follow them. Henry Ford for example didn't change the system. He created a new one. He also learned one of the most valuable lessons in business. One of the keys to his success, was being able to accept defeat graciously, and start again, learning from mistakes, or pitfalls

I can't pop it again so I'll just say "great clip". I needed to revis it it today for some encouragement. Thanks for the reminder that great things have come from many failures and it's the tenasity and drive behind the person that truly makes them great.

Exactly why it is good to look at members clip collections. Many gems like this often get over-looked

ditto what skwirlinator said in that last comment - I've been finding some clip gems that I missed the first time around by looking in collections from other clippers.

Hey, I like Ron Paul as much as anyone, except for the fact that a 1/3 of his supporters are legitimately insane. I also certainly support the continuation of his campaign to shout out his message. But let's be realistic. If McCain dropped dead right now, there are 5 other Republicans that have suspended their campaigns that will move in and take his place. Ron Paul is not among those 5.

So, in a sense, you are correct. Ron Paul should never give up trying to change the country and I hope he does not give up. However, he is not going to get the Republican nomination and giving up or not giving up has nothing to do with it.
