Aninteresting article relating to this. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/09/01/AR2006090101409.html The poor need to be educated that a bag of carrots costs less than a bag of potato chips. Stupid people make stupid choices; obesity and poverty are among the many possible consequences. Education isn't a solution because you can't educate the unwilling. Commonsense can't be imposed, it must be freely embraced. There is much competition for this embrace and commonsense often loses out to the myriad appeals of short term gratification. This appeal is understandable, especially when you find that the consequences are blamed on others by condescending, sympathetic social justice types championing your "victimhood". |
