There was something reassuring about the time call, as though you knew the time you heard, was accurate to the second. Then they invented the digital watch. Time was never the same again. I just "dialed" a number which has worked locally in this capacity for decades and all I can get is a busy signal. Give a dial telephone to any kid of 10 and s/he won't know what to do with it. How would they know to call Time? |
