I recently had a conversation with a friend of mine about how we can tell the difference between those who are mentally ill and those who are psychopaths. She stated that when someone truly has a serious mental illness, people notice (see specifically the parts I clipped). When someone is a psychopath (think Ted Bundy), nobody noticed a thing!
This is such an important distinction! I heard on the news that Banita Jacks claimed her children were "possessed' by the devil, and that she lived in the house with their corpses long enough for them to have decomposed badly.
This poor woman is not evil, she is sick.
