Notice the last paragraph? The one in which the people pointing out that a public school, as an agent for the government, has no business endorsing a religion, is the cause of their problem! These people simply don't get it.

IF there is a god that loves everyone, why would such a being help one group of kids at the expense of another? Why would such a being take sides in this situation?
Why do I even bother to ask this question? I dunno. Some part of me keeps expecting reason out of the irrational.

I suspect the motivation of public religious displays is more complex than this. Not only is it a public begging to a god but it is a statement of the worth of the individual or group doing the religious posturing. It sets them apart and to their way of thinking elevates them over people who don't share their belief. In many respects, it is an ultimately arrogant and prideful display of implied moral and spiritual superiority.

Even their holy book cautions them to go into the closet to pray.
