Good for them, women do have the patience for hunting. My mother and aunts hunted, always took my cousins and I, what a fabulous time, always brought home dinner, learned to clean , and prepare; the whole kit and caboodle.

I've never gone hunting but I would have like to. When I used to go fishing I always cleaned what I caught. I think those women are very admirable.

Really though, I loved bow hunting the most, weather was nicer, woods more peaceful and no worries about drunken good ole' boys blowing my head off.

I miss it. My hubby indulged me and bought me a brand new 22 for Christmas. (I really want a handgun and to get certified to teach shooting to other women-but I'll take what the money allows). I cannot wait to go out and play!

gemfemfox, bowhunting is my favorite too. The woods are quiet, the animals are scurrying around preparing for winter, the deer are feeding heavily, starting to control territory for the anticipated rut, squirrels gathering nuts, geese flying south, the welcomed afternoon sun after a frosty morning soothes the bones as well as the soul. I hunt from a pop-up blind in a comfortable folding chair, easier on the arthritic joints, one can take along a friend or child, great for movies , photos, and teaching, scent free; though I still love the vantage point of a quality treestand.

I've only gone fishing in the strait between Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands. We were fishing for salmon.

Whether I caught a fish or not it was just nice being out in a boat relaxing and enjoying the day. I imagine hunting would be almost the same.

Wow, that sounds like fun Tany. I prefer stream fishing but I've lake and boat fished too.
