Well, I read Arnold’s interpretation of the world, and wonder myself: and how did these “elementary particles and forces” and “chance combinations” come to exist? How were they made? Because they are very intelligent to be able to work together “with natural selection” to produce all the “combinations” that we see in the world.

It seems that this interpretation does not need any explanation for the existence, the power, and the intelligence of this “chance-natural selection.” That is fine; it seems that their minds are satisfied and at ease without further questions. Perhaps that is the ultimate difference between theists and atheists. If they are satisfied, and I ...

Well, I read Arnold’s interpretation of the world, and wonder myself: and how did these “elementary particles and forces” and “chance combinations” come to exist? How were they made? Because they are very intelligent to be able to work together “with natural selection” to produce all the “combinations” that we see in the world.

It seems that this interpretation does not need any explanation for the existence, the power, and the intelligence of this “chance-natural selection.” That is fine; it seems that their minds are satisfied and at ease without further questions. Perhaps that is the ultimate difference between theists and atheists. If they are satisfied, and I am not; my mind inquires and demands a further explanation of the how these “elementary particles and forces” and “chance combinations” came to exist, and have the power and intelligence necessary to produce the Universe. What do you think?

Just by reason and natural means we come to the reasonable conclusion that there must be “something” which explains the existence of these elementary particles, forces, and chance combinations. This “something” must exist by itself, and its essence must be TO BE. Chance alone, by itself, does not explain its existence, unless we affirm that “chance” has in itself the reason for its own existence, and in this case it is the “Necessary Being.” I use capitals because we use capitals for the names of intelligent beings, and that is what it is: Intelligent Being, or the Existence.
