College Education Makes You MORE Religious
All groups showed religious declines. The college educated group declined less than the non college educated group. No group was MORE religious.

laceym, when looked in the specific context here a College Education does make you more religious.

Look at this way, if everyone is aging at a faster rate than you are. Aren't you aging less or not aging (when compared to others) more?

Thanks for the insightful comments alanocu!

You just blew my mind. I'm having a tough time wrapping my brain around this. How can someone age at a faster rate than any other person?

The college group was more religious than the non-college group. The college group was less religious than it was before college. College education did not make any group MORE religious as your title suggested.

Ok bad example.

Let me try this again.

Let's say everyone's losing money than you are in the Stock Market (but you're still losing). In this situation you are richer than others (if everyone started out with the same amount of money). Just because you are losing money at a slower rate doesn't mean you're not the richest out of the group.

BTW
I'm not trying to suggest that college made these people less religious. One of the factors for "religious declines" in the study was church attendance. Many factors can cause a decline in church attendance, but I bet those people would not say they are less religious.

College made people less religious at a slower rate than other groups. Without college these people would've been even less religious.

Ex.

Let's say everyone starts out with a religious rating of 10.

Non College Kids after 10 years lose 4 points and College Kids lose 2 points.

Despite losing points, college has been a sociological factor in helping these kids be more religious than the other groups.

Does that help?

I understand. I'm just nit picking your title.

My point is that in order for a college education to make you more religious, you would have to leave college with a rating higher than 10.

Like I said, I'm completely nit picking and I do understand your point.

I didn't mean to get his clip off topic. It's a good clip.

I'm not arguing about the content of the clip either, just the title. But compared to the rating of others you are more religious.

That is true and a good point about the mainstream. I chose the 6 year plan.
