Sadly you can't get hat kind of money ( in the industrial world) to give a shit about the world, they figure they'll be dead before it actually affects them personally

I think part of it is part of societies disconnection with nature particularly in modern days
loss of old earth wisdom, working on the land
and extreme stress put on the earth through modern building, mining,pollution
