The added weight and aerodynamic loss have to be a hell of a drag on the operating profitability if these rigs serve any functional purpose beyond being showpieces. I can't help but wonder what it is about the Japanese culture that draws them to the garish side of things in so many instances, particularly when they have such a well defined aesthetic in so many other instances.
