Gold and silver foils were a part of Indian food for ages. I have seen as a small boy my grand father having food with gold foil spread on rice and melted with hot ghee poured over it to melt the foil. It is believed that these metals taken in such form help correct certain health problems, including heart conditions. This goes well with the homeo belief of unseen molecular quantities of element helping as remedies.

We've been to Serendipity quite a few times (our friends used to live nearby in NYC) and I never noticed THAT on the menu! Lol!
