Every religion has it's share of snake oil salesmen. The vast majority of the people focus on the positive, peaceful teachings of their religion, which in almost every case the message is the same. Love your family and neighbors, help one another, respect one another and try to lead a good life.

But there's always a group of believers who believe THEIR interpretation of the holy book is the right one, and if you don't believe in what they do, you are wrong and more importantly God (universal meaning here) is going to punish you, and they are that instrument of God to deliver it.

If the masses of reasonable, peaceful people are there to keep things in check, then we'll all be OK. But if people are complacent and do nothing to stop the radical extreme, then we're all doomed.

AcesLucky, you don't need everyone to be gullible, just enough people to make money on what you're selling. What do you think the success rate of email spam is? Less than 1%. But that's enough.

If i were a Christian i would care...Fortunately i am not. I do not accept or preach hate..If New age spirituality is steering Oprah Winfrey away from christianity, Oh freakin well...all this talk about snake Oil...Bah!!! Silly Simple minds..No offense to the Catholics..LoL, Or better yet the Southern Snake Brainwashed Baptists...Spirituality is within...express your own god...you have that right.!!! I think as a Christian you have been lead astray from God by your religion. I’m sorry that you think you are too good to understand that “consciousness” is another word for the Holy Spirit and that you religion can be directly translated into science today. Shouldn’t it make you happy that quantum physics is basically finding evidence that the things Jesus said are true? Shouldn't you be happy God has put this information into the mainstream? Why can't you follow the most important rule and love thy neighbor as thyself regardless of what they believe? That's not very Christian at all. Your attitude will not promote love and harmony on this earth and you are proof that religion creates narrow...

Did you know that the Egyptians commandments are older than Moses'? That they all say "I shall" instead of "you shall"....also there has been over 13 saviors who were born on December 25th from a virgin and sacrificed their lives for their people throughout the ages? You may believe in you religion, but you may not know much about it's history or it's origins....God painted it in the stars! It's called the zodiac and it tells the story of the son of God....much much older than your bible....go do some research!
