RecordSage says: moot but interesting hypothetical WAZOWEEE, I can't believe I didn't think of that. It makes perfect sense that this is why they did not pursue this story. We know this has to be the reason because the NYT did not hesitate to plaster an outright lie in their paper regarding McCain. And consider the disaster if Edwards had become the nominee & then the affair came out right before or after the Dem convention. Think what that would have done to the Democratic party. McCain I bet wishes that had happened. He would have been a shoe-in for prez. Yes, But Edwards was not in contention. First, let's not forget - it's a theory from a Hillary person, so a) it is a theory and b) it's from a biased person. Second, I think Hillary had no idea... NYT may wanted to bury this, but I don't think the Clintons would have. So it is an interesting afterthought, but nothing more, since they didn't and she didn't and we have what we have. Wasn't it Diogenes who went searching for "an honest man"? Jeezzz; what a hopeless pursuit! Are there any politicians who are honest, loyal to their wedding vows, trustworthy? For me, a major issue has been if a man can't keep his oath of faithfulness to his wife, why would I trust him to keep the oath of the Presidency of the United States? For me, a major issue has been if a man can't keep his oath of faithfulness to his wife, why would I trust him to keep the oath of the Presidency of the United States? And the other side of that, if a woman could stand by an impeached President who became so through perjury by lying under oath (coincidentally, about being unfaithful), what other legal oaths would she be willing to turn a blind eye to when broken? @jatfla... no, we can wholeheartedly conclude that there are no 'honest' politicians. As far as wedding vows - it's the men you're referring to I assume... but I have to defend the men here (not Edwards and such of course), since women are strange and here's how it relates to this clip. MIL (mother-in-law for those who don't live in the world of abbreviations) comes home and hears this story. And she says that it's not that big of a deal, many men do it... blah blah blah. The day before she comes (she lives 2 minutes away and adores my kids, so I have no say in the matter) and hears the story about me having the audacity (do I know how to quote Obama or what?) to go see the Black Knight ... And getting back to serious - I agree with wccantexan... how after all of that she's sticking by the guy. Do women have no self-respect any more? Perhaps that's why (some) men act this way, since it's not that big a deal. What's that liberal line? oh yeah - as long as it feels good... Edwards banging a woman he isn't married to, while his wife is gravelyThat's not all. He was also sharing her with a friend. |
