Sad to say I never had one in my life as both my grandparents died shortly before and after I was born. Sorry, debbyski. I had one grandfather in my life, stayed with him always for a couple of weeks every summer after I was 7 or 8 before he remarried late in life. He loved to play dominoes in the evening, since he didn't have a TV (my mom & dad did) and I would get bored listening to just the radio, so we would play dominoes. He would growl and grumble when I would play on his end! But we, my sister and I, loved him! He died a few months after my wedding and that's the last picture we have of him, is coming through the reception line with such a smile on his face! He was positively radiant that day! I guess you can't miss what you never had Satch. I have something my maternal grandfather wrote in my baby book. He was a brilliant man; a chemistry and math professor. To this day if I mention his or my grandmother's name in the county he was raised in, people respond so positively! He touched so many lives. I have a funny story about visiting my grandparents home with my oldest daughter. The area had changed greatly. I drove up there one day and they all flagged me down with rifles. I rolled down the window and they asked me what business I had doing there and without batting an eyelash I replied I was there to show my oldest her great-grandmother's and grandfather's home place. ... Our Debbs is always brave and sweet I dunno about the brave part Mug, but I tries to be sweet. Speaking of sweet, I miss Rashid |
