overture says: I dedicate separate shelves for my books per genre, and then I arrange them alphabetically by the author's last names. But since I've more books than I've got space, tons of paperbacks adorn my bed, my bedside table, my computer table, my floor - you name it, they're everywhere. Recently moved house and am still trying to find time to arrange bookcases in the garage to allow browsing down front and back (like a real library). I also arrange by genre I guess (oracle, db books in 1 place, Rushdie, McEwan and Easton Ellis elsewhere) - but again find them everywhere - yes it is wonderful Alphabetical by title 800 paperbacks - Film and TV tie-ins Grouped by subject 100 books on subjects like tarot, runes, fortune telling, religious books, myths and legends, cultures Manuals 50 books on subjects like computers, video recorder, other manuals for stuff I bought I have collapsible boxes (from supermarket) that are the same size as my shelves - so it's easy - one shelf to each box I also have several 1000 CDs (!) Music - by title Films/TV - by title Data - by subject SJS, respect due wow talk about organization! I do it with my clothes as well, sometimes by color, sometimes by use, sometimes by fabric. tee-hee. ye ol' obssessive-compulsive ways is still here. |
