Being a non-native English speaker yet a writer by profession, the issue of language----and everything that is connected with it, which is, ultimately everything lol---is an insurmountable one. I am not alone in this dilemma. This medium itself---the internet---is in some ways contributing to the death of these marginalized languages. Of course there is progress being made because of increased awareness through the WWW but sometimes it is not enough. Ambivalence I think captures what I and many feel. Things are more complicated with my language---Filipino---because unlike Chinese, French or Russian, Filipino and all the other languages in my country (we have many) are popularly perceived...

We are a land of call centers anyway, and were a Spanish and then American colony for centuries.
