Silkweaver says:
the prospect of immortality raises complex ethical social and economical issues. This is exactly why we need immortality! So we will have unlimited time to resolve these very issues. If there is one thing humanity won't give up is the dream of immortality. It is as ancient as our race.

If someone wants to live forever and they have a chance to do it fine, but, personally it's not for me. First you're born then there's a time to die. If a person could live forever it would take some of the excitement out of living.

I trust that one is also free to have accepted death as another attribute of 'life', and also to place higher emphasis on the priority of leaving gifts for the children of the future, rather than relegating this priority to one which is based upon one's own 'interests'.

Then why aspire to heaven? It's all just a "natural" desire to want to stay alive, especially when the quality of life is great.

Immortality is the quest in science and religion. In science, it's a real possibility. In religion, it's pretend, or faith. But the desire for ultimate survival is the same.

Immortality is not about survival, or keeping on living just for the sake of living. There is no point, I can think of, in living just for the sake of living. Immortality is about breaking limits. Breaking the limits of perception, of intelligence and eventually of evolution itself. If a mind is limited, yet lives indefinitely, sooner than later, life will become repetitive and consequently boring, nothing one should aspire to. However if there is a chance to expand one's mind indefinitely, also immortality becomes a very desirable option. These two, mind expansion and life expansion must come together.

There are infinite ways for one to be born, and reborn...

beautiful comment Silweaver

I want to let go of all disappointment
That’s waiting for me
What I want is to live forever
Not defined by time and space
It’s a lonely place
That’s what I want

I go round and round just like a circle
I can see a clearer picture
When I touch the ground I come full circle
To my place and I am home
I am home

Again and again we are reborn. It is not enough simply to be born of the mother's womb. Many births are necessary. Be reborn always and everywhere.

Thanks alanocu
Am really working hard to open my mind to the future, and try to share it. Sometimes it feels we are so loaded with unnecessary prejudice that reaching the 'escape velocity' from ourselves looks impossible. Sometimes it feels even taking off barely an option. I gather however that the wings of imagination can carry us eventually to
a much more interesting reality.
