Hey vk2yoc did you see that report about "Treasure Island" (Macquarie Island) (Sunday Night?? - I don't watch TV much) - WOW!!! HOPE HOPE HOPE HOPE beauty as beautiful as these pics.

Yes I saw that, good photography for an amateur. I have on occasions, spoken via radio to people working on Macquarie, they always have interesting tales to tell about life on the Island.
I also have some close Friends who visit the island regularly, as tourists. So I've seen more than enough home movies about the place. Would love to go there myself, wildlife is amazing.
They have had a few problems with feral animals, such an ecosystem is quite fragile.
South Georgia Island would be Macquaries' only rival for sheer beauty.

Makes the point, too, that caring (at least for the young) is part of many species, even those known as fierce predators.

No species could survive if it murdered it's young, killed it's mates and destroyed all it's neighbors. This gives us grounds for a little hope, 4sure, 4real: It's in our DNA not to destroy the world; it has to be so for survival.

Of course, there are other forces that put us at war.
