I, being somewhat familiar with the process of recovery, can certainly understand the former.

As to the latter, I cannot fathom. It must take one to know one.

Addiction is self medication resulting from codependency and is an escape, usually from taking responsibility resulting in denial and looking for a short cut "out" of the shame. Codependency is a psychological syndrome based in the dependence on the needs of, or control by, another. Codependency is rampant in the human condition and in our culture. It results in control issues - to the point of war. If its not murder its money. Even the Bible blames Eve 'cause Adam ate of the apple. What about The Snake? I'd say all three were "Co"dependent on one another. With this "dis-ease" there is Never a winner
