knslyr says: I'd quit watching TV. Period. This makes me want to puke. In fact, there are companies out there cooking up ways to do that. Philips recently received a patent for a device that would disable a video recorder from switching channels during a commercial break. There would be an option for viewers to watch the ad or pay a fee to unfreeze the fast-forward capability. I agree knslyr. maybe that would actually be a good thing now that i think about it. Who watches TV anymore? - Stargate - Stargate Atlantis - Battlestar Galactica - Numb3rs - The History Channel - National Geographic Channel - Animal Planet! - Ghost Whisperer (mmmm Jennifer Love Hewitt) - Golf Channel Though I only watch (at most) 1 or 2 hours of TV a day, none of these programs/channels are watched at time of broadcast... all DVR'd. Personally, I'd drop my DVR & Digital cable & just download them all via torrents... I love my DVR, but mainly for 2 reasons: 1: I don't have to be there when the show originally airs (the dvr records it) 2: I can skip commercials that I find boring or stupid. I actually watch commercials that are funny or informative... So instead of taking away something I enjoy, why not just actually make a useful commercial... If I don't enjoy the commercial, I'm likely not going to buy your product anyway, so why MAKE me watch it? knslyr: Jennifer Love Hewitt? are you serious? I might be a tiny bit in love with the Discovery Health Channel. Television will just have to evolve to catch up with current trends. I don't think irritating the end user is the way to go. I agree with TheCatWhisperer, commercials should try harder to catch our interests (like they do for Superbowl ads). Or perhaps all tv will have to go payment based for ad free content. |
