I have to point out the irony of calling a culture barbaric for not respecting the individual and then invoking a god that is built upon the blood of those that believed differently and that today leads the persecution against homosexuals because they are different and trying to be individual and true to themselves.

American culture isn't much more civil. If you don't fit in, your ostracized. Creates pockets of angst that swell and burst into our schools and malls with semi-automatic gun fire.

From one perspective, we (as in a good bulk of "western" societies) must recognize that their culture is far older than ours. Civil Rights = Advanced culture.

This being said, any form of social segregation is wrong. Divide humanity among any axis detracts from the goal of unity.
